The Value of an Accountability Partner

who is your accountability partner

When you are in business for yourself who do you turn to when you need support or want to celebrate?

It is not always easy to share with a friend, employee, or even your spouse. They may not get where you are coming from, especially if they aren’t self-employed.

Some people don’t want to hear about your success – in fact, they may actually be jealous of your success.

So, what is a self-employed business owner to do?

I have found great value in having one or more Personal Accountability Partners!

You may be wondering what is a Personal Accountability Partner.  In fact, you may be thinking “I have heard of mentors before but a Personal Accountability Partner – I don’t need another mother holding me accountable.”

That’s the beauty of a Personal Accountability Partner, they aren’t your mother! They are there to encourage and offer suggestions.  It is up to me and you what we choose to be accountable for.

Here is what I mean by a Personal Accountability Partner:

  • They are someone who I can trust.
  • They are someone who will meet with me regularly.
  • They will provide an equal energy exchange – meaning they will provide and receive support equally.
  • They are willing and able to joyfully celebrate my successes with me.
  • They also offer suggestions in using the 11 Energy Generating tools that are part of the Chi-To-Be! system shared in Chi-To-Be! Achieving Your Ulitmate B-All by Stacey Hall.

When I meet with my accountability partner I share my goal that I am asking for support with and also let them know what I have already done. They then offer suggestions that may move me closer to the fulfillment of my goal.  Again, it is up to me to decide what I choose to take and actually implement.

The whole point of having goals and an accountability partner is to succeed. And what better way to celebrate a success than with my Accountability Partner. Especially because many times, my celebrations of success are directly related to goals my Accountability Partner supported me with during a call!  I love that I am able to celebrate my success and accomplishments with them.

I so appreciate that the Chi-To-Be! system of Accountability Partnerships provides a way that I am able to give and receive support in such a win-win way.

As a Certified Chi-To-Be! coach I offer coaching to clients on incorporating the Chi-To-Be! system into their lives and businesses. Please send me an email message to if you are interested in exploring coaching options.

Are You Ready To Be Your Own Boss?

my own boss

I’ve been my own boss since 1998 and I love it!

I started Pathways To Harmony in 2007.  I also own and operate, along with my husband Down To Earth Wood, which allowed me to quit my full-time job in 1998 after only 3 years in business.  AND I am building a network marketing team!

Here are some things I have learned along the way…

When you are your own boss there isn’t anyone looking over your shoulder telling you what to do AND that is exactly why most people want to be their own boss.  However, without some systems in place time can fly by very quickly with lots of money going out the door and none coming in.

It can be easy to think I’m the boss, I can start working whenever I want. Or, I don’t feel like working today so I’ll just take a day of vacation.

Having systems in place is critical!

Here are my top 3:

Schedule for Success

Set up standard work hours and days of the week that you will work.  This also helps keep some balance and harmony in life between work and family time.  Use a calendar. It can be paper, digital or a combination but use it!  I prefer a week-at-a-glance style of calendar.  When I am only looking at one day it is too narrow of a focus and I may choose to put something off that will have major ramifications for the remainder of the week.

Bonus Tip:  Look at it every night before you ending your work day.  This will set you up for success the next day.  I also love the Trello app because it gives me a place to capture ideas and track projects!

Filing Systems

Keeping your office, phone, computer, car and home free of clutter is SO important! When you can’t find what you need, it causes stress, anxiety and lost time.

With technology, it is easy to stay organized and stay clutter free.  Create folders – they make my life so easy.  I have file folders to hold papers until the day and time I have scheduled for data entry into my accounting software:

  • Banking
  • Accounts Payable
  • Credit Card Receipts
  • Accounts Receivable

You might have folders to hold papers until you turn them over to your accountant or bookkeeper.  It all depends on how you have your business set up.

I use folders on my phone to keep my photos organized.  That way when I want to send a customer or prospect information I don’t have to scroll through personal photos.

The point is to create a system that supports you and your business and use it! Schedule time to stay organized.  It will pay off especially as your business grows because by then your process will have become a ritual.

Bonus Tip:   I love the Trello app because it gives me a place to capture ideas and track projects!  AND it syncs between my computer and phone in real time.  It also comes in handy as your business grows because you can collaborate with teams.

Take Rest Stops

Remember how you were looking forward to working when you wanted? Well, you can when you Schedule for Success and schedule in Rest Stops!   When first starting a business it can be a lot of work, so the trick is to schedule in Rest Stops.

Bonus Tip:  Schedule rest stops before and after each activity on your calendar, even if it is only 1-5 minutes of time.  You will be amazed at the amount of energy these quick rest stops generate.  Also look ahead when scheduling vacations and schedule time to actually enjoy the process of preparing for and returning from vacation.

Please leave a comment below with your favorite systems!

Spring Is In The Air

Identifying and Appreciating my Blessings

Spring is in the air!  I love being able to open the windows and let the fresh air in.  It is always a beautiful blessing and freshens up the whole house.

When I was a child Spring always meant washing windows and washing the bedding and hanging it out on the clothes lines to dry.  I love the smell of air-dried bedding as I crawl under the covers that first night!

2017-03-28 18.40.38-PTH

The other night I enjoyed a walk with the sun warming my face, listening to the water flowing through the creek and having a great conversation with my daughter about our bible study questions on the book of John.

I am learning to take the time to just BE!  To enjoy what is in front of me at the present moment and not always be thinking ahead and missing what is right in front of me.

There are so many things I count as blessings and Spring is one of my favorites!

in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Goals + Tools & Systems = Results!

I have a goal and that is to sell one million or more structured water units because I want everyone to know “what more is possible” when you drink and use water structured water.  When the number one million came up as a number to measure my goal by it seemed nearly impossible to me and I almost changed the number to something much smaller.

Then I remembered the joke about how do you eat an elephant?  One bit at a time of course!

Scheduling For Success

After remembering the answer to the elephant joke I started making a list of all of the activities I could implement to reach my goal of one million units sold.  I came up with lots of ideas.  The next step was to start using my tools and systems so I could Schedule for Success my chosen activities on my calendar.

Some of the ideas I came up with that have been Scheduled for Success and are in various stages of completion are:

  • Business name
  • Business cards
  • Website
  • Facebook page
  • Email address
  • Flyers & brochures
  • Banner for vendor booths
  • Research possible vendor booths
  • Schedule vendor booths
  • Host Facebook events
  • Research email marketing services
  • Add contacts to my email list
  • Email my contacts about specials, upcoming events, etc.

Now every time I get a new idea I add it to side 3 of my Strategic Attraction Plan that I keep on a Trello Board.  The present time may or may not be the perfect time to implement the idea and having a place to keep track of my ideas helps me to stay out of overwhelm!

With a few tools and systems like Trello Boards, the Chi-To-Be! Energy Surges, Chi-To-Be! Achievement Guide and the Fastest Attraction Mastery Self-Study Program I am set up to successfully achieve my goal.  These tools and systems are easy to use and I am seeing results with lots of activities implemented towards the achievement of my ultimate goal.

I took the first bite out of my goal by coming up with a business name and then getting business cards printed.  Now I have my website and shopping cart active.  Sales are happening and I am on my way towards that one million units sold mark!

Are you ready to take one bite at a time towards the achievement of your goals?  Then I encourage you to check out the tools and systems I mentioned above.

Please leave a comment and let me know what goal you are Scheduling for Success to achieve so I can hold your vision with you!

Have Fun At Networking Events!

Scheduling For Success

I have a networking and vendor event coming up soon.  Both will be great opportunities to meet new people.
I used to dread the networking events.  I never knew what to share about my business and it always felt like no one was interested in what I had to say.  I felt awkard and out of place.
Now I love networking opportunities and the reason is because I am prepared and know exactly the group of people I am choosing to connect with BEFORE I even leave home for the event.  I am very clear on what my overall goals in life are and how the networking event moves me closer to those goals.  I also schedule time on my calendar for follow up because really, what’s the point in even going if I don’t follow up!
For the vendor booth, Scheduling for Success includes taking time to brainstorm layout ideas for the booth, gathering display items, setting my goals for the booth such as sales, number of contacts and blocking time on calendar to follow up after the event.

I invite you to Schedule for Success to this free coaching call that is focused on “The Art of Creating Relationships That Work” to experience even greater success with your networking and vendor events. Call Recording here:

The Perfect Way You Can Achieve Exceptional Results In Every Area of Your Life

As you have probably gathered if you have read any of my previous posts – I have been on a personal transformation journey for the past couple of years.  Well OK a whole lot longer than that since I have Self-Help programs on cassette tape!

I’ll be honest, I have acted like I was on a private personal transformation. What I forgot to take into account is that I live with my family – my husband and 2 young adult children.  OF COURSE my transformation is going to impact and involve them.

I would feel like I was making great progress and really clearing blocks and it showed in every area of my life EXCEPT with my immediate family.  I kept reverting back to old behaviors with them.

I AM Respecting and Appreciating Myself

So I finally sat down with them and was very open and honest.  I admit, this was scary.  I asked them to see and hear me for who I am today and not who I have been with them in the past.  I am also starting to share verbal APPRECIATION FOR MYSELF in front of them.  One reason I started this is because they said “we don’t always see what you want us to see as a change inside yourself”.  I realized how often I was expecting them to just pick up on my inner transformation without sharing the process and breakthroughs.  For me this is like aligning three of the wheels on my car and not the forth wheel.  I definitely won’t get the results I am expecting with only three wheels aligned.  It is time to start being open and honest with my family AND ASK for their support – not just assume they know that I desire it!

I am happy to say that since that family gathering I am already seeing some significant progress with my personal transformation within my family.  One example is that my daughter and I were able to cook a meal together and laugh and have fun for probably the first time ever! The Perfect Way to Achieve Exceptional Results

In order for me to be able to ask my family for support it was important for me to know what kind of support I was looking for.  I always start with prayer then I used one of my favorite tools – the Strategic Attraction Plan™ to get really clear on what their perfect support would look like for me.  This tool also helps me get clear on what I am counting on myself for – in this case to SHARE with my family.

Do you have areas of your life where you are just expecting others to provide support? Maybe you have started a home based business and feel like your family is hindering your progress.  Have you shared with them WHAT is motivating you to have a home based business?  Are you clear on what you are counting on yourself to provide to your family while working your business – do they know?

The Strategic Attraction Plan™ works for every area of my life and it will for you too! What are you waiting for?  Come join me in achieving exceptional results.

P.S. If you have ever felt like you were talking to a stone statue when you’ve shared with friends and family about what’s most important to you, then, I would love for you to join me for our next Attraction Circle of Power Hour free coaching gathering. We will be chatting about how to have full and mutual loving and trusting relationships. RSVP for either the Live call or to receive the link to the recording at

Two Weeks Notice!

Two Weeks Notice - No Need to Panic

Sunday night my husband and I committed to doing 21 Days of Prayer for our businesses.

Monday morning we added to our Strategic Attraction Plan (S.A.P.) for our perfect employees.  I noticed that every time we refined our S.A.P. one particular employee became more and more dissatisfied.

Monday afternoon the employee gave their two-week notice.   In my mind, there is no coincidence with the timing of the notice!

In the past getting a two-week notice from an employee would have caused panic.  We would have been worried about how to get the product out the door, scrambling to put together a job posting and pushing to get a new employee hired as soon as possible.

This past Monday it was cause for celebration in recognition that our Strategic Attraction Plan (S.A.P.) is working!  It was easy to write a job posting because we are clear on what qualities we are looking for and we are enthusiastic to start interviews to attract a new employee.

If you are looking to improve and/or change relationships in your life, having a Strategic Attraction Plan is a great place to start.  I have plans for clients, customers, employees, my spouse, and children to name a few!  To learn more about how to create your personalized plan click here.

Share Your Love

Share Your Love copyI have been on a journey of learning to love myself more and love is part of my 2017 self-care focus.

As a wife, mother, coach, business owner, friend, volunteer, etc. I tend to give a lot of myself to others.  And don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with giving to others.  The only issue is when you keep on giving and all of a sudden you find yourself on empty with nothing left to give.

It isn’t possible to give more than you have.

I have learned that is important to give back to myself in the form of personal prayer time, movement, eating healthy meals and scheduling time to connect with family and friends.  Many of these have become daily rituals.

Valentine’s Day was earlier this week.  It was the perfect way to start reconnecting with family and friends and implement The Power of Love.

When I planned out my goals for February I put it right into my schedule to show some love to my family and friends.  Others years it would be an after thought – “oh it’s Valentine’s Day I should let a few people know I care about them” and I would squeeze it in.  I am sure that’s exactly how it felt to those on the receiving end – like a “should”.  Not exactly what I was aiming for.

This year I fully shared my love. I sent text messages, I made phone calls, I made a special meal for my family, I cleaned the house and I spent one to one time with my husband.

I asked the question – was I giving love to others in the same way that I was desiring to receive love? The answer was no.

Through reflection, prayer, studying the book of John in the Bible and transforming some old paradigms I came to understand it is safe for me to love and be loved.

In order for me to receive love I have to be willing to give love.  It is a beautiful blessing to love myself enough to be able to start sharing love with others.

Are you ready to love yourself so that you can share your love with others?   Wonderful!  Remember that ‘Making a Positive Difference Starts with Telling the Truth to Ourselves’.

Monthly Goal Setting Brings Me Joy

planner and ctb book - Monthly Goal Setting

I have been consistently writing out my goals on a monthly basis for about 3 years.  I admit it has been a process for me and did not always bring me joy.  I was afraid of not being able to achieve all of my goals. I was afraid of failing or looking bad especially if I shared my goals with someone else.  So, I started out with just a few activities towards my goals for the entire month.  The limited number of goals and activities gave me the opportunity to actually achieve success.  With a taste of what it felt like to achieve success I was able to add more and more goals each month.

Over the course of these 3 years my process of writing out my goals and Scheduling for Success has evolved.  I now love my monthly ritual of identifying my goals and the activities I chose to actually put onto my calendar towards the achievement of a specific goal.

Here are some of the steps that have created joy for me in my ritual of monthly writing out my goals:

  • Each month I schedule time to look forward to the next month – This was a HUGE step for me.
  • I review the previous month and celebrate my successes before starting on the new month.
  • I look at the different categories of my life:  Faith, Family, Friends, Fun, Finances.
  • I have a running list of possible activities under each of these categories to capture inspirations throughout the month to implement in the future.   I look at this list when writing my goals for the next month.
  • I schedule in my non-negotiable activities such as morning prayer time, eating, etc.
  • I then fill in my chosen activities for the month

One major breakthrough for me surrounding my goals has been the recognition that I am making progress and I have lots to celebrate at the end of each month EVEN if I don’t achieve 100% of my goal for the month.  It is no longer a process of beating myself up or feeling like a failure.  It is now a joy-filled journey of exploring and appreciating what I have accomplished.

I encourage you to keep playing until you discover a joy-filled way for you to achieve your goals beyond January of each year.  If you are like me and like support in knowing if you are ‘doing it right’, I encourage you to check out the Achieve Success In 60 Days of Less program that I was privileged to co-create with Stacey Hall.  It is the perfect way to eliminate your fears about goal setting and will guide you to create fun ways to continuously achieve your goals and so much more!

I would love to celebrate your successes and progress with you so please leave a comment.  If you have questions about how to get started, let me know that too!

She is clothed with strength and dignity,
and she laughs without fear of the future.
~ Proverbs 31:25

Never Lose Hope

Wait Patiently for the LordI moved to a new community back in 2007.  One of the things I did to meet new people and establish my business in the area was get involved with my local Chamber of Commerce and join a networking group. Over the course of these 10 years I have planted many seeds.  Some of those seeds took and bloomed rather quickly.   Some required nurturing and then bloomed and still others seemed like they were dead, never to bloom.

Then last week I received a call from one of those “seeds” I had planted that I thought was never going to bloom.  Guess what!  I was asked to give a presentation the end of February.

Now fast forward to my theme for 2017 which is Stillness, Self-Care, Synergy and Harmony.  You can read more about it in my recent post SSSH…Is My Theme for 2017.  This new opportunity ties in with a presentation that I was already scheduled to give the beginning of February which creates SYNERGY and HARMONY for me in preparation.

This experience also ties in with Stillness for me.  One of the ways I am embracing Stillness is to just sit and listen for direction from the Holy Spirit. I am also doing a bible study this year on the Book of John. We just covered the passage in John 12:21-36 where it talks about a grain of wheat must die.  I feel like I have been letting go of a lot of my old ways of doing and thinking recently and believe this is part of what freed me up to receive this opportunity into my life.   Somehow it just all feels connected for me!

This experience is reminding me to never loose hope and remember that it is truly all in God’s perfect timing.

Have you lost hope only to have it renewed again?  Please share your experience(s) in the comments to inspire others.  Or maybe you are still in the despair of lost hope.  Let us know that too so we may encourage you.
